Shidvash’s path to becoming a lawyer began not in law school, but in the bustling offices of a local real estate firm. As an undergraduate student in Toronto, he witnessed firsthand how lawyers could be trusted guides during life's significant moments – whether helping first-time homeowners navigate their purchases or supporting families as they launched their dream businesses. These early experiences planted the seeds for what would become a passionate pursuit of law.
Between his studies, Shidvash could often be found at the local pool, where he worked as a swim instructor and lifeguard. Those long summer days spent teaching toddlers to brave their first strokes and keeping vigilant watch over the swimmers were valuable lessons in connecting with people at their most vulnerable moments – an insight that would prove invaluable in his future legal career.
Shidvash’s journey led him to McGill's Faculty of Law, where he graduated in 2022. But for him, law school wasn't just about hitting the books. He devoted himself to serving Montreal's diverse communities through both French and English legal clinics. One of his most meaningful experiences came from his work at an immigration clinic, where he collaborated with translators to help newcomers navigate urgent immigration matters. The pressure of fast-approaching deadlines only strengthened his resolve to be a steady hand in times of crisis.
His commitment to advocacy extended beyond direct client service. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shidvash published an article in the Canadian Class Action Review, making a compelling case for using class action litigation in the pursuit of justice for elderly residents affected by negligence in long-term care homes.
Post-graduation, Shidvash found his niche as an articling student at a major electronics company, where his ability to balance sharp legal analysis with business acumen earned him a position as in-house counsel. Today, he continues to thrive in this role, providing practical legal guidance that keeps pace with the dynamic demands of the technology sector.
When he's not poring over contracts or crafting legal strategies, you might find Shidvash on a hiking trail, practicing martial arts, or indulging his passion for historical reading – pursuits that help him maintain the balance and perspective essential to being an effective legal advisor.
