ANGELA LEBRETON

Angela learned early in her career that the best lawyers do not just protect the business, they help drive it forward. Over more than twenty years in tech, that belief has taken her from corporate counsel all the way to the CEO's office at a global tech giant.

Originally from New Brunswick, Angela earned her law degree at the University of Ottawa, which included a semester at the University of Hong Kong, before completing a Master of Laws in E-commerce at Osgoode Hall in 2003. She positioned herself at the intersection of law and technology just as digital business was taking off.

Angela began her career in telecom, electronics manufacturing, and mobile technology — sectors where innovation moved faster than regulation. She quickly learned to adapt, guiding businesses through emerging challenges in data, privacy, and global commerce. Angela’s ability to balance legal precision with practical business insight became her hallmark.

In 2010, she joined one of the world's largest enterprise software companies as Senior Corporate Counsel. Over the next decade, Angela advanced to Senior Managing Counsel and ultimately led the company's public sector practice in Canada, helping government clients modernize operations while managing complex legal and regulatory demands.

By 2020, Angela was promoted to Director of Global Business Practices, selected from a worldwide pool of talent at a company operating in more than 175 countries. She reviewed and approved major revenue transactions in real time, collaborating with clients and colleagues across the globe. The position demanded sound judgment, cross-cultural fluency, and the ability to make high-stakes decisions quickly.

Fluent in English and French, Angela values communication as a cornerstone of effective leadership and relationship-building, a skill she brings to every boardroom and negotiation.

That passion for language inspired her to create My French Journey, bringing French-language learning to Toronto children through after-school programs and summer camps. She was also a board member of the Lycée Français de Toronto, accredited by the Government of France and within the Agency for French Education Abroad network (AEFE).

Outside the office, Angela is a lover of the Arts. She is currently a board member and Chair of the Canadian Children's Opera Company, and an amateur pianist who trained through the Royal Conservatory of Music. Angela regularly attends performances and art events throughout Toronto and beyond, deepening her appreciation for how creativity, discipline, and focus produce great art — qualities that shape her approach to both law and leadership.

Having worked at every level of the legal profession, Angela understands what it takes to deliver — whether moving a deal forward, managing global teams, or building the kind of trust that keeps clients coming back.
